Lucky date and timing calculators

Pick a day that suits your numbers, see what kind of year you are in, or check the good and difficult hours of today in your own city. The timing tools work from your local sunrise and sunset, so the times match where you are.

What each one does

  • Personal year numberYour Personal Year number for any year, your twelve personal months and your full 9-year cycle.
  • Lucky dateEvery date in a month marked good, neutral or avoid for your numbers, or for a couple planning an engagement or wedding.
  • Today’s panchangToday's vaar, tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana with end times, plus sunrise, sunset, moonrise and Rahu kaal for your city.
  • Choghadiya todayThe good and bad choghadiya periods of the day and night in your city, with the one running now highlighted.
  • TarabalamHow today's nakshatra sits with your birth star and today's Moon with your rashi, for now and the next 7 days.
  • Hora todayThe 24 planetary hours of today in your city, worked out from sunrise and sunset, with the current hora highlighted.
  • Rahu kaal todayToday's Rahu kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika kaal for your city, with the Abhijit muhurat and a 7-day Rahu kaal table.

Where to start

For a date weeks ahead, start with the lucky date calculator and shortlist the days it marks good, then look at the panchang for those days. For today, the choghadiya and Rahu kaal pages answer the usual question of when to start something; hora is the finer, planet-by-planet view. Tarabalam adds your own birth star to the picture. The Personal Year number is the long view: what kind of year this is for you, month by month.

Frequently asked questions

Is a numerology lucky date the same as a shubh muhurat?

No. A lucky date uses only the dates of birth and the calendar date. A shubh muhurat comes from the panchang, and for big events from the Kundli too, and gives a time window on the day. Use the lucky date calculator to shortlist days, then have the muhurat checked.

Why do the times change from city to city?

Choghadiya, hora, Rahu kaal and the panchang day all start at local sunrise, which is different in Nagpur, Mumbai or Delhi. Pick your city, or use your location, and the times are worked out for it.

Should I avoid starting anything in Rahu kaal?

Many families avoid beginning new work, travel or a purchase in Rahu kaal, while daily routine carries on as usual. It is a commonly followed custom, and practice differs from family to family.

When does my Personal Year change: 1 January or my birthday?

This calculator follows the common method, where the Personal Year runs with the calendar year from 1 January. Some numerologists count it from the birthday instead, so the change can feel gradual in the months between.
