Two names
Love Calculator by Name
A love percentage for two names, worked out from the numbers in each name.
Matching calculator
Type your name and a friend's name to see a friendship percentage. Each name gives three numbers (the Chaldean name number, the whole name and the consonants), and the calculator compares them with the traditional friendship between planets. It is for fun and reflection, and the working is shown.

For fun and reflection. This friendship percentage is a playful reading from a traditional table. It is not scientifically proven, a name is one small part of a friendship, and a score is not a prediction. Nothing you type is stored: the score is worked out in your browser.
The calculator uses the Indian view that each number from 1 to 9 belongs to a planet: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn and 9 Mars. In Vedic astrology the natural friendship between planets is called graha maitri, and that is the table this calculator reads.
Names Aditya and Rohan (example names, not real people).
| Number | Aditya | Rohan | Match | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Name number (Chaldean) | 3 (Jupiter) | 2 (Moon) | Good | 3 of 4 |
| Whole name | 6 (Venus) | 2 (Moon) | Challenging | 1 of 4 |
| Consonants (outer self) | 4 (Rahu) | 4 (Rahu) | Excellent | 4 of 4 |
| Total | Good friends | 8 of 12 = 67% | ||
Computed by the same engine as the calculator above. 8 ÷ 12 × 100 = 67%.
| Percentage | Reading | In plain words |
|---|---|---|
| 75 to 100 | Close friends | Your names sit well together in most pairs, so the friendship may feel easy. |
| 50 to 74 | Good friends | Your names get along in most places, with a spot or two where you differ. |
| 25 to 49 | Different, and can learn from each other | Your names bring different energies, and friends who differ often teach each other the most. |
| 0 to 24 | A friendship that takes time | Your names sit far apart in the table, so trust may take a little longer to build. |
The consonants are traditionally read as the outer self, how each person comes across, and the whole name and the name number as the overall picture. Look at the three pairs as well as the percentage.
A score is a conversation starter. Good friendships are built by turning up for each other, and that matters far more than any number.
No. It is a playful reading built from a traditional table, and it is not scientifically proven. A name is one small part of a friendship, so treat the score as something to enjoy and talk about, not as a verdict on the two of you.
Each name gives three numbers: the Chaldean name number, the whole name and the consonants, each reduced to one digit. The calculator compares the two names pair by pair using the traditional friendship between the planets that rule those numbers, scores each pair from 0 to 4, and turns the total out of 12 into a percentage.
Both use the same planet friendship table. The love calculator also compares the vowels, which are read as the heart. The friendship calculator uses the Chaldean name number and the consonants instead, which are read as how each person comes across day to day, so the same two names can score differently on each.
No. Each pair of numbers is read in both directions, so the score is the same whichever name you type first. Capital letters, spaces and punctuation are ignored.
A low score only means the numbers of the two names are not natural friends in the traditional table. Many close friends have a low score and get along very well. It is not a reason to worry about a friendship.
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is stored or sent.
