Rahu kaal (राहु काल), also called Rahu kalam, is one eighth of the daytime. Because it is counted from the local sunrise, it changes with your city and with the season.
Yamaganda and Gulika kaal are found the same way, each in its own part of the day. The Abhijit muhurat is the 8th of 15 equal parts of the day, around local noon; many panchangs do not use it on Wednesdays.

The tradition is about beginnings: families avoid starting a journey, signing an agreement, a purchase or a ceremony in Rahu kaal. Work already under way carries on as normal. For the rest of the day by period, see today’s choghadiya. For important events, Namieta picks a muhurat from the full panchang and your charts.
A period of about an hour and a half each day, ruled by Rahu, when new work is traditionally not started. It is one eighth of the time from sunrise to sunset, and which eighth depends on the weekday.
Divide the time from sunrise to sunset into 8 equal parts. Rahu kaal is the 2nd part on Monday, 3rd on Saturday, 4th on Friday, 5th on Wednesday, 6th on Thursday, 7th on Tuesday and 8th on Sunday.
Because it starts from the local sunrise. Cities to the east see the Sun rise earlier, so the same Rahu kaal begins earlier by the clock, and the length changes with the season.
Two more eighths of the day that many families avoid for new work, worked out the same way as Rahu kaal. In many traditions, Gulika kaal is also said to repeat whatever is started in it.
The midday muhurat: the 8th of 15 equal parts of the day, around local noon. It is considered good for starting work, though many panchangs do not use it on Wednesdays.
Routine work that is already under way carries on as usual. The tradition is about starting new things. For an important start, Namieta can suggest a better muhurat from the full panchang.
