Just for fun. FLAMES is a playground game. It is not numerology or astrology, it uses no numbers, planets or birth details, and it does not predict anything about two people. Nothing you type is stored: the game runs in your browser.
How FLAMES is worked out
- Write the two names. Capital letters, spaces, punctuation and titles such as Mr or Dr are ignored. Only the letters A to Z count, so type the names in English letters.
- Strike out the shared letters. Every letter that appears in both names is struck from both, one for one. If one name has two A’s and the other has one, only one pair is struck.
- Count the letters left. Add up the letters that are not struck in both names.
- Go round the word FLAMES. Starting at F, count that many letters round the word and strike the one you land on. Start the next count from the letter after it, and keep going round until only one letter is left.
- Read the last letter. F friends, L love, A affection, M marriage, E enemies, S siblings.

Names Rahul and Priya (example names, not real people).
- Strike out the shared letters: Rahul:
RAHUL · Priya: PRIYA(struck: R, A). - Count the letters left: 3 + 3 = 6.

What the letters mean in the game

Spelling changes the count, so Rahul and Rahul Sharma can land on different letters. That is part of the fun, and it is also why a game like this cannot say anything real about a relationship.

What does FLAMES stand for?
Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings. Some people play it with other words, for example A for adoration or S for sweetheart, but these six are the most common.
Is FLAMES numerology or astrology?

How are the shared letters struck out?
One for one. If one name has two A's and the other has one, only one pair of A's is struck and the second A stays. Capital letters, spaces and titles such as Mr or Dr are ignored.
Will the result change if I swap the two names?
No. The same letters are struck whichever name comes first, so the count and the last letter stay the same.
Why did I get a different result on another website?
FLAMES is played in a few ways. Some players strike every copy of a shared letter, some use only first names, and some start the next count from the first letter of the word instead of the letter after the one struck. This page uses the common school version and shows every step.
Are the names I type saved?
No. The game runs in your browser and nothing you type is stored or sent.
