For fun and reflection. This love percentage is a playful reading from a traditional table. It is not scientifically proven, names are one small part of a relationship, and a score is not a prediction. Nothing you type is stored: the score is worked out in your browser.
How the love percentage is calculated
The calculator uses the Pythagorean letter chart (A=1 to I=9, then J=1 to R=9, then S=1 to Z=8) and the Indian view that each number from 1 to 9 belongs to a planet: 1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn and 9 Mars.
- Clean the names. Capital letters, spaces, punctuation and titles such as Mr or Dr are ignored. Only the letters A to Z count, so type the names in English letters.
- Find three numbers for each name. The whole name (every letter), the vowels (A, E, I, O, U) and the consonants. Each is added up and reduced to a single digit, so 11, 22 and 33 are reduced too (for example 11 becomes 2). Y counts as a vowel only in a name with no other vowel.
- Compare the names pair by pair. Whole name with whole name, vowels with vowels, consonants with consonants.
- Score each pair from 0 to 4. The calculator uses the same planet friendship table as the numerology compatibility calculator. A friend scores 2, a neutral planet 1 and an enemy 0, read in both directions, so the result is the same whichever name you type first.
- Turn the total into a percentage. Three pairs give a total out of 12. The love percentage is the total divided by 12, times 100, rounded.

Look at the three pairs as well as the percentage. The vowels are traditionally read as the heart (what each person wants inside), the consonants as the outer self (how each person comes across) and the whole name as the overall picture.
A score is a conversation starter. People with a high score still need kindness and honest talk, and many couples with a mixed score get along very well once they understand where they differ.

How is the love percentage worked out?
Each name gives three numbers: the whole name, the vowels and the consonants, each reduced to one digit. The calculator compares the two names pair by pair using the traditional friendship between the planets that rule those numbers, scores each pair from 0 to 4, and turns the total out of 12 into a percentage.
Will the result change if I swap the two names?
No. The score is the same whichever name you type first, because each pair of numbers is read in both directions. Capital letters, spaces and punctuation are ignored.
Which spelling of the name should I use?
Type the name in English letters the way it is usually spelled. A different spelling, such as Divya and Diya, can give different numbers, so try the spelling you actually use. Names in Hindi or other scripts are not read here, so write them in English letters.
What if the score is low?
A low score only means the numbers of the two names are not natural friends in the traditional table, so some things may need more patience. Many couples with a mixed score get along very well. It is not a reason to worry or to change any plans.
