What the card shows
A young man in a tunic printed with lotus flowers stands by the sea, holding up a cup. A small fish looks out of the cup at him, and he looks back calmly, unsurprised. Waves roll behind him.
Page of Cups upright
The Page of Cups is a gentle surprise from the heart. A young man looks into his cup and finds a fish looking back, as if a feeling or an idea has risen from nowhere. Pages are messengers, and this one often brings tender news: a message from someone you care about, an invitation, news of a pregnancy in the family, or the first stirring of a creative idea. It can also describe a sensitive, dreamy person, young in years or young at heart. The card asks you to be open to feelings and ideas that seem unusual. Write the poem, send the message, join the music class you keep thinking about.
Page of Cups reversed
Reversed, the Page’s sensitivity turns into moodiness or escape. Feelings may be immature, a person may sulk instead of speaking, or a message is held back out of shyness. It can show a creative block, or daydreaming that takes the place of doing. Sometimes it describes someone avoiding hard feelings through films, games or endless scrolling. Give yourself a gentle push to say what you feel in simple, direct words.
In love and relationships
A sweet message, a shy admirer, or a tender new start. It can show an invitation, a small romantic gesture, or a crush that makes you smile. Reversed, mixed signals, emotional immaturity, or someone hiding their feelings out of fear of rejection.
In career and study
A creative idea, a course in art, music or design, or a job that uses your imagination and sensitivity. Good news about work may arrive. Reversed, a creative block, dreamy ideas about work with no plan, or not yet taking a career seriously.
In money matters
Small, new beginnings with money, often linked to a creative idea or a hobby that could earn a little. Keep expectations simple. Reversed, daydreaming about money without a practical plan, or shopping to cheer yourself up.
The card’s advice
Listen to the gentle feeling or idea that is trying to reach you, and give it a voice.
Yes or no
Page of Cups is commonly read as a “Maybe”. The feeling is real, but it is still young and needs time to grow.
These meanings follow the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck. A card is always read with its position in the spread and the cards around it, so treat them as starting points, not fixed answers.
