What the card shows
A crowned figure in a red robe sits on a throne between two grey pillars, with a purple veil behind. The right hand holds a double-edged sword pointing up, and the left holds a pair of scales. The sword cuts to the truth, and the scales weigh both sides.
Justice upright
Justice is the card of fairness, truth and cause and effect: what was done comes back in kind. It often comes up when a decision has to rest on facts, not on feelings or pressure, as in a property matter between siblings, a contract, a court case, an exam result or a fair division of work at home. Its Golden Dawn sign is Libra, the scales, ruled by Venus, which seeks balance. The card asks you to look at the evidence, hear every side and own your part honestly. If you have acted fairly, it is a good sign. If not, it is a chance to set things right. This deck follows Waite and numbers Justice 11; older decks give it 8.
Justice reversed
Reversed, Justice can show an unfair outcome, a delay in a legal or official matter, or a decision taken without hearing both sides. It can also point to your own part: avoiding blame, bending the facts, or hoping a mistake goes unnoticed. Slow down, check what is true and say it, even when it is uncomfortable. Keep copies of every document, and take proper advice in legal matters.
In love and relationships
In love, Justice asks for fairness and honesty. Singles may meet someone who values equality, or may need to be honest about what they themselves want. Couples should share the load fairly and talk problems through calmly. Asked about feelings, the card shows someone weighing them carefully: sincere and fair, but not rushing. Commitments made now tend to be serious ones.
In career and study
At work, Justice favours law, audit, accounts, HR, mediation, government work and any role that weighs facts. It can mark a performance review, a contract, an interview judged on merit, or a dispute that needs a fair process. Keep records, follow the rules, and be the person whose word holds.
In money matters
With money, Justice asks for clean accounts and fair dealing. Settle what you owe, collect what is due and put agreements in writing. A money dispute is best handled calmly, with the papers in hand.
The card’s advice
