What the card shows
A dancing figure wrapped in a purple sash floats inside an oval laurel wreath tied with red ribbons, holding a wand in each hand. In the four corners are an angel, an eagle, a lion and a bull, the four fixed signs of the zodiac.
The World upright
The World is the last card of the Major Arcana, and it marks completion. A long journey has reached its goal, and a chapter closes with a sense of wholeness. Think of a graduate holding the degree after years of study, a family finally settled in the home they saved for, or someone fully recovered after a long illness. The dancer moves with ease because the work is done. Its Golden Dawn planet is Saturn, the planet of time, effort and maturity, so this is success earned over years, not luck. The card also points outward, to travel, study or work abroad, and a sense of belonging to a wider world. Notice how far you have come, and celebrate before the next cycle begins.
The World reversed
Reversed, the World shows a goal that is almost reached but not yet finished. You may be stuck on the last few steps, waiting on paperwork or on other people, or feeling that the achievement does not count. Small unfinished tasks nag at you. Sometimes it shows a wish to move on held back by doubt. List what is still open, finish one piece at a time, and let yourself close the chapter.
In love and relationships
In love, the World shows fulfilment: a wedding, a shared home, a long-distance couple finally in one city, or simply a relationship that feels complete. Singles may feel whole on their own, which is often the best time to meet someone. If you asked how someone feels, it shows deep contentment and a sense that you belong together. Celebrate it.
In career and study
At work, the World marks completion: a project delivered, a qualification earned, a goal reached after years. It also favours international work, offers from abroad, travel and roles that connect you with a wider world. Take stock of what you have built, then decide which door to open next.
In money matters
With money, the World shows a goal reached: a savings target met, a loan cleared, a long plan finished. Recognise the effort behind it, and set the next goal calmly.
The card’s advice
Notice how far you have come, close the open loops, and step into what comes next.
Yes or no
The World is commonly read as a “Yes”. A goal is reaching completion and a wider path is opening, so the answer is yes.
These meanings follow the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck. A card is always read with its position in the spread and the cards around it, so treat them as starting points, not fixed answers.
