What green aventurine is
Green aventurine is a rock made mostly of quartz grains, with tiny flat flakes of a green, chromium-bearing mica called fuchsite. The flakes catch the light and give the stone its glitter, called aventurescence. India is by far the largest producer, and much of it is carved into beads, tumbled stones and figurines.
What green aventurine is traditionally linked with
- In crystal practice green aventurine is traditionally linked with opportunity, trade and a hopeful outlook.
- Many shopkeepers keep it on the counter, near the cash box or on a sales desk.
- In numerology circles it is the usual crystal choice for one number; the pairing from this site’s data is shown below.
Numbers and planets it is paired with
These pairings come from the same data as the gemstone calculator: each number from 1 to 9 has a planet, a ratna, its upratna (substitutes) and crystal choices. The Lo Shu direction of the number is where some people place the crystal when that number is missing from their Lo Shu grid.
| Number | Planet | Listed as | Ratna of the planet | Lo Shu direction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | Mercury | Crystal | Emerald | Centre |

Care and cleansing of green aventurine
- Clean with lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft brush, then dry.
- Bright green dyed pieces can lose colour in water; wipe those with a dry cloth.
- Store it apart from harder stones.
- Many people like to “cleanse” a crystal from time to time; plain morning light for a short while or resting it on a dry shelf suits almost every stone. Ask about yours before using water, salt or strong sun.
Real green aventurine: natural, treated, dyed or fake
- Real aventurine shows tiny flat flakes that sparkle when you tilt it, and uneven green colour.
- Goldstone is manmade glass with copper glitter (green goldstone has bright, even sparkle); it is not aventurine.
- Plain quartz or quartzite dyed bright green may be sold as aventurine; look for colour gathered in cracks.
- Green jade and amazonite look different: no glitter.
For a costly piece, ask for a report from an independent gem testing laboratory. It names the material and any treatment.

Questions about green aventurine
Which number and planet is green aventurine paired with?
In our numerology data green aventurine is paired with Mercury (number 5). Treat this as a starting point: your full set of numbers and your question matter too.
Where should green aventurine be kept?
Many people keep it on a shop counter, near a cash box or on a sales desk, and some in the north of the home or office. It is a reminder of an intention, not a promise of sales.
Is green aventurine the same as jade?
No. Jade is a different, tougher material with no glitter. Aventurine is quartzite with mica flakes that sparkle.
Why is green aventurine common in India?
India is the main source of green aventurine, so it is widely available and carved into beads, figurines and small trees here.
Can green aventurine replace medical care?
No. Crystals are part of a tradition of intention and reflection, not medicine. Please keep following your doctor’s advice for any health concern.
