Romanised: Om hrāṃ hrīṃ hrauṃ saḥ sūryāya namaḥ
Meaning: Om, the seed sounds of the Sun, salutations to Surya.
Surya verse of the Navagraha stotra
जपाकुसुमसंकाशं काश्यपेयं महाद्युतिम्।
तमोऽरिं सर्वपापघ्नं प्रणतोऽस्मि दिवाकरम्॥
Romanised: japākusuma-saṅkāśaṃ kāśyapeyaṃ mahādyutim /
tamo’riṃ sarva-pāpaghnaṃ praṇato’smi divākaram
Meaning: I bow to Divakara, the Sun, red like the hibiscus flower, the son of Kashyapa, of great brilliance, the enemy of darkness, who takes away all wrongdoing.
The Navagraha stotra is traditionally ascribed to the sage Vyasa and has one verse for each graha.
Japa count (commonly suggested): 7,000. Commonly suggested total for a full japa (anushthan), completed over several days in rounds of 108 on a mala. For daily practice, one round of 108 is the usual suggestion. Some manuals give other totals; follow the count your pandit or astrologer gives.
