Virgo tarot card: The Hermit
Virgo, Kanya rashi in Hindi, is the sixth sign, an earth sign ruled by Mercury. It notices detail, likes things done properly and is often the person others ask to check the plan. Virgo shows love through service: fixing, organising, helping without being asked. It can also be its own harshest critic. Its tarot card is The Hermit.
23 August to 22 September · Rashi: Kanya · Element: Earth
Why The Hermit is the card of Virgo
The Hermit stands alone on a snowy peak, holding up a lantern with a six-pointed star inside it, lighting only the next step of the path. Virgo’s careful mind works the same way: it studies, checks and searches for what is really true. The Hermit adds the value of quiet, time away from noise to think things through. For Virgo the card has a second message. The lantern is for finding your way, not for searching for flaws forever. At some point, trust what you have learned and come back down the mountain. The three decan cards of Virgo
Virgo’s decans close the suit of Pentacles. The Eight of Pentacles (the Sun, roughly 23 August to 1 September) shows a craftsman carving coin after coin: skill built by practice. The Nine of Pentacles (Venus, 2 to 11 September) shows a woman alone in a garden heavy with grapes, a bird on her gloved hand: comfort earned through discipline. The Ten of Pentacles (Mercury, 12 to 22 September) shows three generations and their dogs at the gate of a family estate: wealth and a legacy that lasts. Careful work, rewarded.
The suit of Virgo
Virgo is a Earth sign, so its suit is Pentacles, the suit of the same element. All the Pentacles cards
Strengths the cards show
- Careful and observant
- Practical and reliable
- Helpful in quiet, useful ways
What the cards suggest working on
The Eight of Pentacles can tip into endless polishing, and Virgo knows that feeling well: nothing is ever quite good enough. Set a clear finish line before you start a task, and when you reach it, stop. Each day, choose one thing to do well and one thing to leave imperfect. Speak to yourself the way you would speak to a friend who is trying hard. Rest is part of good work, not a reward for finishing all of it.

Questions about Virgo in tarot
Which tarot card is Virgo?
Which tarot suit is Virgo?
Virgo is a Earth sign, and Earth is the element of the suit of Pentacles.
Which Minor Arcana cards belong to Virgo?
The Eight of Pentacles, Nine of Pentacles and Ten of Pentacles, one for each 10° part (decan) of the sign, in that order.
Is my tarot sign the same as my Vedic rashi?
Not always. Tarot uses the Western (tropical) zodiac, while Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which is now about 24° behind it. So anyone born in roughly the first three weeks of a Western sign’s dates usually has the sign before it as their Vedic Sun sign, and the rashi most Indians go by is the Moon sign, which can be different again.
